Joshua Tree Top Roping

This Weekend, The first weekend of December we went to Joshua Tree.  On this trip we decided to take a top rope.  My friend Josh provided the top rope and the belay device. (thanks!).  The trip was great.  We started off at the “hidden valley” camp ground, and started climbing on intersection rock.  Josh set up a simple top rope on a route that was less than vertical.  This was my first rope based trip, so i was SUPER nervous.  I was really nervous and I totally didn’t use my foot work the way that I should have. Here are some photos from the trip.

Scott was great on this trip.  I have climbed with him twice before, and in many way i trust him the most of all people i climb with, BUT still im am nervious in general.  Anyways, scott, with his light frame, was a great climber today.

We did this really awesome rock today.  its finny cause I got super tired during the normal routes, however the moment I got to work on this one cave, I felt at home.  I realize now i need to work more on my endurance in these cimbs.  Either way, i need to work more.

Scott did this awesome Dino.  Infact, Josh, myself, and him all did it, but he had the best photo.

Sherelle was a champ!

Josh did an awesome job on the main wall.  This route was awesome.

Justin did a great job to.  He always hates the small squizes.

Anyways, this trip to J tree was great.  We did boldering, top roping, and a lot of scrambling.  Im just glad that joshua tree national park is only 1 hour away!

Loved Ones In Pain

The worst feeling in the world, is to watch someone you love in pain.  This is no more evident than when a child, in this case a nephew, is crying because of an unknown pain.  Maybe they are hungry, tired, or maybe something more serious like an ear infection or a leg falling asleep. No matter the reason, they are crying for help, and you just can’t help them.

Its the same way when it comes to grown loved ones that are in pain. We want to fix the problem, make things better. However, the most important thing for us to do is be there for that person.  Let them know that we love them and we are there for them, even if they are still in pain.

A dog gets a more patient owner.

(photo from iphone - sorry)

I was sitting at a local coffee shop wrapping up a design proposal when a very interesting sequence of events took place concerning a dog, a white man (seemingly his owner at the time) and a black guy from the park.

Joshua Tree Climbing Trip

Went to Joshua Tree on Sunday with Scott Shakespeare.  The trip was great.  I ended up getting myself into a few hairy situation during the day.  Including one of the photos.  Had to down climb instead of send.

The weather was GREAT! 72 degrees at Joshua Tree is fantastic!  With a bit of a breeze the air was real crisp and clean.  Hopefully Ill have my own rope by the next time we go out so that we can do some top rope work instead of just scrambling.

Anyone who is interested in going on a trip with me/us some time to Joshua Tree, let me know!  We do everything from just hiking around casually with a bit of scrambling to the more extreme level of  boldering / climbing.  Also I have a year pass now, so 15 bucks SAVED each trip =P.

Cheers.  I will be in New Mexico for the next few weeks.  Hopefully Ill be able to blog as much as I want to.  Originally i was going to take my saab all the way out there, but Ill be taking Amtrak this time.

Messy hair wins the day.

That was cool! Over 50 people voted on my hair cut!  Well I went to my local Riverside Hair Salon and Eugene agreed with the poll.

Final Results - Buzz cut = 39% Spiked=7% (never again 1999) Messy/longer=54%

So we went with a longer cut that can stand up or lay down.

And yes that IS a jokey on a lion on my shirt.

Thank you all for voting, Face book people… find me on twitter, twitter people find me on facebook!

Also I found the Image of my old Saab and Just HAD to share it!

Please - Help me choose my next hair cut!

Basically I can’t decide which hair cut to go for tomorrow when I get it cut.  Right now its long enough that I can cut it how ever I want.

Which hair cut should I get? Please help me out with your votes!

Ignore the goofy Faces… My goal or “look” is both “I run a small company (which I do), and I am not boring / old yet =P.

So. which way should I cut my hair?!
