Sex in the city - Hell NO!
Julian Sutter
So sex in the city is being released this weekend. As a male I have no intent in seeing this movie. Truth is, I think that every single male is trying his best to avoid that movie like the plague. On KVCR on the way home tonight I caught NPR’s Talk of the Nation’s discussion of Sex in the City. John Kass talked about how no man should see this movie. No acceptions.
John Kass eve released a card with talking points against Sex in the City. His point is thatno man should have to deal with the agony of this film. This film is SO bad, SO degrading to women that it is the turning point in our “ill go along to make her happy” lifestyle. In fact Sex in the city degrades women. It makes me think that all women care about it buying shoes and getting laid. Truth is these may be the extreme persona’s of many women, but it does NOT represent women properly.
I am guilt of watching some fairly feminine based TV shoes. I own all 10 seasons of friends. (although i watched them while leveling Shaman in World of Warcraft) I understand the importance of a guy to be able to bend a bit when it comes to the manliness (or womanliness) of the movies/shows that we watch. Thats simple getting along. But shows like Sex in the City and Desperate House Wives are the tipping point. I will not watch them no matter how much it upsets the girl that I “love”.
If sex in the city is a movie that you, my girlfriend NEED to watch, then please realize that it is my right to refuse. It is not a slight against you, or your female nature, rather it is an attempt to retain my manliness.
That said, any woman not willing to see The Dark Night is totally not worth my time.
